We at CFO Techstack are excited to enter a new phase of offerings for our audience. Brought to you by Mayday, we serve larger businesses with in-house finance teams seeking ‘ERP-eace of mind’: scaling confidently with Xero and its ecosystem, without the chaos of switching to a traditional ERP system.

Last year, we launched CFO Techstack with a core question: "How can we best serve our target customers?" It began with our 14-part webinar series, 'Building an Enterprise-Level System with Xero', hosted in September. Aimed at helping in-house teams scale during growth using Xero, it evolved CFO Techstack into a content and community hub for building top-tier finance tech stacks. Our weekly newsletter and events have earned strong feedback, with more innovations ahead—including today’s key announcement.

Inspired by Xero’s Partner Advisory Council (XPAC), which gathers insights from accounting and bookkeeping partners, we’ve formed the Finance Leader Advisory Council (FLAC) for in-house finance leaders. FLAC’s mission: empower knowledge sharing to unlock Xero’s scaling potential for larger businesses, while helping Xero and its ecosystem better meet their needs.

Introducing our FLAC

Here’s our representative group for larger Xero users:

We convened for the first time last week, yielding rich discussions and insights. We were honored by guests Alex von Schirmeister, Xero UK and EMEA MD, and Michael Green, Xero UK and EMEA GM of Partnerships.

Key points from the session

1) Transaction limits

Transaction limits often confuse larger Xero users, as highlighted in our ‘Building an Enterprise-Level System with Xero’ series—where aggregated postings serve as a workaround.

FLAC members eagerly sought clear guidelines and the real limits.

2) Tracking categories

Larger users frequently hit the cap on tracking categories, a key limitation.

Xero allows only two active tracking categories, impacting reporting analysis via connected tools.

FLAC shared creative workarounds, like granular Chart of Accounts or combining categories.

3) Multi-entity on Xero

We explored multi-entity user experience challenges, such as opening only one organization at a time—workarounds include separate browsers like Safari or incognito mode.

And much more! Discussions were so robust we’ll cover them in depth in upcoming CFO Techstack newsletters.

The future of FLAC

This inaugural meeting was a success. FLAC will meet quarterly to bridge gaps in Xero capabilities and support for larger businesses. As your representative body, share your priorities at zoe@cfotechstack.com.

We’re expanding FLAC membership. UK-based larger Xero users able to travel to London: apply at zoe@cfotechstack.com. You might just join us!
