How I Stacked It
Every finance stack tells a story. How I Stacked It looks inside the tools, workflows and decisions real finance leaders use to build better, more scalable finance teams.
Katrina is Group CFO at Asseti, a real asset management and monitoring platform that helps asset managers predict and operate property assets at scale. She's responsible for finance, payroll and ISO, and supports the sales, operations and processing teams.
You may remember her stack from an earlier How I Stacked It. Since then, Katrina has been named Finance Leader of the Year at the 2026 CFO Techstack Awards, and like any good finance leader's stack, hers has kept evolving with the business.
A lot has changed. Asseti's processing centre in Nepal has joined the group, US operations have grown fast, and a new New Zealand branch has widened the footprint again. The biggest shift is that AI is now a core part of the stack. She's also brought in new tools for dynamic forecasting and real-time reporting, and fully rolled out platforms for international payroll, payments and FX. It felt like time for an update.
The Stack

Xero for Core Accounting
Xero sits at the heart of our finance stack, providing the core accounting platform that our other finance tools connect to and build around. It gives us a central place to manage our financial data as the business grows.

Mayday for Close & Intercompany
Mayday makes it straightforward to manage intercompany reconciliations and harmonise the chart of accounts, which is particularly useful when acquiring businesses or working with legacy entities. It’s easy to implement, intuitive to use and stays focused on what it does well rather than trying to be everything at once.

Maxio for Subscriptions
Maxio works well for SaaS reporting, with a strong onboarding process and responsive client care that continues beyond implementation. While its AI functionality is more limited, the quality of its customer support helps make up for that.

Hubspot for CRM
HubSpot works well for communications tracking and workflow automation. Tasks and actions can be set up not only for sales activities, but also for processes and workflows that interact across different apps.

Rippling for Payroll and HRM
Rippling now runs HRM across the entire group, without exception, and payroll across Australia and the US. Employment Hero has been completely replaced, with the whole group moving across at the same time on 31 December. That means staff have two sets of payroll data to reconcile for their full-year FY2026 earnings, but the efficiencies we've gained far outweigh this minor and temporary inconvenience.

xpna for Dynamic Forecasting
xpna feeds live accounts receivable and payable data directly into our forecasting, replacing what used to be a manual weekly update. It's made our forecast more reliable and far less time-consuming to maintain, particularly across multiple entities and currencies. The next step is to load our budget and create three-way forecasting, which is one of our OKRs for next quarter.

Airwallex for Payments & FX
Airwallex is now fully implemented for payments and FX, having moved from implementation to an established part of the finance stack. It gives us a more streamlined way to manage payments and currencies across the group. The addition of the New Zealand branch means we're now managing regular transactions in another currency and another set of operations too.

Rigo HR for Nepal Payroll
Nepal is the one exception to Rippling Payroll, where we currently use Rigo HR for native payroll. We're working with Rippling to localise its payroll offering for our Nepal office too, while Rippling already handles HRM for the team there.

Joiin for Consolidated Reporting
With the group operating across multiple entities and Xero databases, Joiin brings the financial data together for consolidated reporting. It gives us a group-level view without having to pull reporting together separately from each Xero ledger.

Claude for AI-Driven Reporting & Analysis
AI is now a core part of our finance stack. Claude has been embedded since March as our reporting and analysis layer, with every workflow and SOP documented in Notion alongside it. Together, they're helping build AI more deeply into the day-to-day workings of the finance function.
