Become a CFO Techstack App Partner
Join forces with the largest community of modern finance leaders.
About CFO Techstack
CFO Techstack is home to a community of 13,000+ forward-thinking finance leaders, with 5,000+ reading our weekly newsletter. Three years on, it has grown into the largest community of its kind, a reference point for finance leaders and the platforms they run on.
What started as a newsletter is now a broader media and community platform, bringing together original research, editorial content, webinars, peer-to-peer community and live events.
Your opportunity
CFO Techstack builds genuine partnerships with the tools, platforms, and brands that finance leaders already rely on. That means partners showing up in front of the community, not just alongside it: co-hosted events, dinners, and roundtables sit at the heart of this, alongside editorial content and deeper collaboration on the themes shaping modern finance teams.
Our partners bring real expertise, product experience, and customer insight; the kind that comes from working closely with finance teams every day. CFO Techstack brings an engaged community of finance leaders, the events and formats to bring them together in person, and an independent research and editorial platform to share that expertise through.
Together, this gives partners the chance to meet the community face to face, contribute real perspective through content, support original research, and take part in the wider conversation about how finance teams are evolving.

Apply to become an App Partner
There are three ways to get involved: become a Community Partner, become a Stack Partner, or certify your app. See how each one works below, then apply using the form.
Become a Community Partner
Becoming a Community Partner requires your app to provide details about your app which will mostly be visible to the community. Refer to the details below on how the process works:
Eligibility
Check you have at least 2 How I Stacked It mentions.
Apply
Submit all of the information requested via the application form. The form will ask a range of questions covering things like your contact details, app details (e.g. logo and app description), a link for customers to start a demo of your app, and category-specific feature information.
Assessment
The CFO Techstack team will check you meet the eligibility requirements and do a brief check of your information before it gets listed in the app map.
Listed
If you pass the assessment, you’ll be added to the app map and the app comparison tool. You’ll be eligible for the benefits shown in the benefits table.
Become a Stack Partner
Becoming a Stack Partner is for apps who want to go deeper with the CFO Techstack community. Here’s how you join:
Apply
Fill in the form to let us know you’re interested in deeper community involvement.
Discuss creating a plan together
We’ll organise a call to see what we can dream up together. Ideally, this will be one or two agreed sponsorships or collaborations. We’ll also complete a Crossbeam exercise to find an audience overlap.
Confirm the proposal
We’ll send you a short, personalised proposal to confirm so we know what we’re working towards.
Kick off collaboration
Let’s jump into doing more for the community together.
Now eligible for certification
Once you’re a Stack Partner, you’ll be eligible to apply for app certification. You can read more below.
Tick off annual commitments
As a Stack Partner, you’ll need to commit to contributing 5 How I Stacked It articles per year. You’ll also need to complete at least one collaboration or sponsorship with us. We’ll catch up annually to plan these activities together.
Apply to certify your app
Once you’re a Stack Partner, you’ll be eligible to apply for certification of your app. Certification will give you access to a certification badge which will also be displayed on your app in the app map.
Refer to the details below on how the process works:
Eligibility
You’ll need to be a Stack Partner to be eligible for app certification.
Apply
Submit all of the information requested via the application form. The form will ask a range of questions about your app. You can see details about the categories of questions further down this page.
Assessment
The CFO Techstack team will assess your application against the criteria. We’ll let you know if we have any questions.
Certified
If you pass the assessment, you’ll be marked as certified. You’ll have a badge visible to finance leaders on the app map, plus you’ll be able to use the badge in your marketing materials.
What we assess for certification
The certification assessment covers the following areas:
| Criteria | What is assessed |
|---|---|
| Security | Whether your app holds ISO 27001 or SOC 2. |
| Controls and access | Who can do what inside the app, traceable actions and the ability to undo actions. |
| Audit support | Tools and access for auditing purposes. |
| Integration depth | How deeply the app is wired into Xero and other accounting software. |
| AI and ecosystem | Where the app uses AI, whether its output can be checked and overridden, what happens to customer data, and how the app connects to the rest of the stack. |
| Scale | Whether the app copes with the size of the businesses CFO Techstack finance leaders run. |
| Geography | Where the app is genuinely sold, supported and localised, and how it handles local tax. |
| Implementation | What hands-on help is available when migrating to or adopting your app. |
| Commercial | How pricing works, and whether cost improves as entity or transaction volume grows. |
| Community evidence | Independent evidence that real finance teams in the CFO Techstack community use and rate the app. |

FAQs
I don’t yet meet the eligibility requirements for being a Community Partner. What can I do?
The best way to do this is to help find community members who can contribute How I Stacked It articles. Please contact us if you have some suggestions.
Does it cost anything?
No. There’s no fee to become a Community Partner or Stack Partner.
My app spans three categories. Which one will we show up in for the app map or app comparison?
You’ll be able to select a primary category and up to two secondary categories when applying. We’ll confirm your categorisation with you once successful.
How often will I need to update my app’s information?
You can contact us at any point to update your information on the app map or in the app comparison tool. We will reach out to you once per year to prompt you to update your app’s details. If you are a Stack Partner with a certified app, you’ll be required to recertify annually.
How is being a Community Partner different to being a Stack Partner?
Being a Community Partner is free and open for all apps who have earned a place through community review. Being a Stack Partner is for apps that do more with the community and want to step that up to the next level. Once you’re a Stack Partner, you’ll be eligible to get your app certified, which will give you added visibility to finance leaders.
Once we’re a Stack Partner, what happens if we don’t meet an assessment criterion for certification?
You’ll still be able to be a Stack Partner. Passing certification will depend on which criteria you don’t meet. If you don’t have ISO 27001 or SOC 2, you won’t be able to pass the assessment. For other criteria, we may ask for additional information before making a decision.
What gets published from the Stack Partner certified app assessment?
Some details of the assessment will be visible to finance leaders via the app comparison tool.
Do we have to sponsor an event or run a webinar to be certified?
Being a certified app is something you’re eligible for once you’re a Stack Partner. Stack Partners are required to commit to at least one collaboration or sponsorship annually.
What is the Crossbeam exercise for Stack Partners? How does that work with collaboration opportunities?
We’ll get on a call and map out a collaboration plan together, including using Crossbeam. Crossbeam is a tool we can use together to help find audience overlap, which we can leverage for the collaborations we commit to.
Collaboration opportunities could include a range of things: event sponsorship, webinars, podcasts, ebooks, industry research, newsletter features and more. Let’s see what we can dream up together.
