Overview

The Finance Leaders Advisory Council (FLAC) is the representative body for in-house finance leaders scaling on Xero.

The FLAC provides a dedicated forum for finance leaders to share insights, influence the future of the ecosystem, and highlight the unique challenges faced by in-house teams.

FLAC brings together experienced finance leaders who contribute real-world perspectives to guide product, ecosystem, and community developments. While the FLAC is not a decision-making body, it plays a vital role in shaping conversations and ensuring that the voices of in-house finance teams are heard.

Objectives

The FLAC exists to:

  • Bridge the awareness gap: Showcase what’s possible with Xero + a best-in-class app stack
  • Share precedent: Demonstrate that larger SMEs can successfully scale on Xero
  • Shape the future: Influence which tools get built, which problems get solved, and which voices get heard

Benefits

What’s in it for you as a FLAC member:

  • Exclusive invitations to dinners, workshops, and events
  • Recognition as an industry thought leader
  • Direct influence on the tools and platforms shaping finance teams
  • Access to insights and peer learning from other leaders
  • A chance to contribute to the voice of in-house finance teams

Membership

Who gets invited?

  • FLAC members are in-house finance leaders from a diverse range of industries and company sizes.
  • Members are invited based on their expertise, willingness to share experiences, and ability to contribute to discussions that impact the broader finance leader community.

What is the expected tenure?

  • There is no minimum or maximum expected tenure. Rather, the FLAC will undergo regular reviews to ensure the group is structured in the best possible way to serve the community.
  • The number of FLAC members may vary to ensure a diverse range of perspectives and expertise, and there may be situations where a FLAC member is asked to give up their membership.

Commitment

Your commitment:

FLAC involvement is relatively light-touch and flexible. Contributions include:

  • Attend quarterly forums and dinners (where possible) [Expectation: 2-4 per year]
  • Participate in monthly ‘Stack Sessions’ with ‘The Stack Exchange’ community [Expectation: 3-4 per year]
  • Contribute to FLAC-led thought leadership pieces for CFO Techstack [Expectation: 1 per year]
  • Championing and advocating for the CFO Techstack community [Expectation: ongoing]
  • Engage in discussions on ‘The Stack Exchange’ Slack forum [Expectation: as relevant]

Expectations listed are a guide. We will endeavour to remain flexible. All we ask is that serious effort is made to attend FLAC events.

Our Commitment:

  • Champion members: Actively represent FLAC perspectives in discussions with Xero, app partners, and other key stakeholders in the tech stack.
  • Facilitate connection: Provide regular forums (virtual and in-person) and an exclusive Slack channel to enable peer-to-peer connection, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
  • Support ambassadorship: Promote and celebrate FLAC members publicly (e.g., LinkedIn campaigns) to strengthen both individual profiles and the collective influence of the council.

Ambassadorship

We’re keen for the FLAC to be something you’re proud to be a part of, and share publicly. We encourage FLAC members to add this position to their Linkedin profile.
